How to sell supplements on Amazon UK
Firstly, selling supplements on Amazon is a great idea if you are looking to start a new business, create a new revenue stream or expand the reach of an existing brand...
You can instantly reach millions of health-conscious shoppers and potential customers across the UK through their trusted platform. This makes it far easier to launch and/or scale your supplements brand, compared to launching a website in isolation (which can take both time and effort to build authority and attract traffic).
If you are thinking of selling supplements on the Amazon UK platform, but are unsure of...
- where to source quality, off-the-shelf products
- how to start your own brand
- how to handle supplements order fulfilment
- the legal requirements associated with the sale of supplements (both on Amazon and generally)
- how much it will all cost and whether it will even be affordable,
who better to guide you than an industry expert that can handle it all?
Specialist Supplements Ltd is a wholesale supplier of UK-made, market-ready health foods and supplements. We handle the re-branding of our products in-house, which means that you get to sell our products under your own personalised branding (the "private label" option). We can also take care of your order fulfilment - either through our no-fee dropshipping service (where we dispatch items sold on Amazon directly to your customers) or by sending products to Amazon FBA - see more below.
As a long-established supplements wholesaler, we are very used to supporting our re-sellers during the Amazon onboarding process (including the supply of all necessary compliance documentation) and we have Amazon specific FAQs for registered customers on all aspects, including common questions such as barcodes, listing requirements, fulfilment by Amazon FBA etc.
We are a one-stop-shop for anyone looking to get started selling supplements on Amazon, quickly and easily. We take care of most of the hard work for you - the products, the branding, the fulfilment and the regulatory side. All you have to do is create your listings and start making sales. And our unique "no minimum orders" policy makes getting your business off the ground even easier.

Selling your own brand of supplements on Amazon
It may sound like a huge (and even unrealistic) task, but setting up your very own brand of supplements to start selling on Amazon could be just days away with our help.
As private label experts, working in this field for over 30 years, we have streamlined the process to make starting your own range quick, easy and affordable. This is how it works...
STEP 1: As a registered customer you will have access to our entire catalogue of off-the-shelf, quality assured health foods and supplements. You can pick and choose whether to sell just a few products, or all of them. It is up to you and will be dictated by your target market.
STEP 2: You purchase our Own Label Bundle setup package. For this one-off fee, our dedicated in-house team we will design personalised labels for each of the products you wish to sell, and these will feature your logo, product names, colour scheme and contact details. Alternatively, you can supply us with your own artwork for the labels.
The setup process is fast and, once completed, will essentially mean that you have your very own range of supplements ready to get selling immediately. We will provide you with high quality, Amazon-compliant images of your "Own Label" products to use in your listings (and anywhere else you choose, e.g. in marketing materials, on social media platforms etc).
By taking care of all aspects of product formulation and manufacture in advance, we ensure that our re-sellers are left with very little to do to get their own brand the rest of the way to market.
Handling your Amazon orders
As an Amazon seller you will need to decide how you are going to handle your order fulfilment, i.e. when you make a sale, how are you going to get the product(s) to your customer.
You will have the choice to:
- buy from us in bulk and ship the products our yourself OR
- use our convenient dropshipping service to send the products directly to your customers OR
- use Amazon's own fulfilment service - Amazon FBA. We can send the products direct to Amazon's fulfilment centres.
There are pros and cons to all 3 approaches. Dropshipping is quicker, easier, cheaper and does not involve any pre-purchase of stock (i.e. buying in bulk). With our no minimum orders policy you are able to simply order from us when you make your own sales - great for cashflow. However, if you use Amazon FBA, although more expensive and complex, you can access Prime, which is attractive to many Amazon customers.
How does your dropship service work?
99% of our Amazon re-sellers opt to use our in-house supplements dropship service, because it is fast, efficient, reliable and affordable. All of the hassles of order fulfilment are taken care of.
Unlike third party fulfilment houses, we DO NOT charge an admin fee for providing this service, i.e. for storing and picking products, printing labels, labelling products and packing your orders. All you pay is the postage (which you would do if sending the items yourself). Even better, you have none of the risk on product shelf life, as you are only ordering products as and when you make your own sales.
All registered customers automatically have access to our dropshipping service. As part of the checkout process when placing product orders, you will be asked if you have your own label, the order is for dropshipping etc.
STEP 1: Your customer places an order with you on Amazon and pays you the retail price you set.
STEP 2: You then place the corresponding order with us, through your trade account, giving us the customer's address and other details. Please click here for available order processing options: https://www.dropshipwebhosting.co.uk/Order-Processing-Options
STEP 3: We send the order out to your customer (your branded labels are printed and applied to your products at no extra charge).
It's as simple as that.
Are there any legal requirements to sell supplements on Amazon?
While we have taken care of all regulatory requirements associated with the manufacture and packaging of the products, there are some requirements you need to be aware of as a seller of food supplements...
Registering as an FBO (food business operator)
Any business selling food (including food supplements) - on any platform - must be registered with their local Council (technically at least 28 days before starting to sell).
You can find out more here: https://register.food.gov.uk/new
As you are not manufacturing, potting / handling loose product, this is usually a quick and straight forward process.
IMPORTANT POINTS TO NOTE:
1. Your FBO application must be made with the Council / Environmental Health Department where YOUR head office / business is located. If you do not have physical business premises, this will simply be where you are located.
2. You MUST NOT enter our Specialist Supplements Ltd details (such as business address, telephone number or other details) into your application. This is YOUR application, not ours. We already have our own FBO registration. You must input the premises address as your 'head office'.
3. If you are a dropshipper (who does not have premises or hold stock), you will need to explain this to your Local Authority. In the description box, you must advise them that you are a "food broker", who does not have any physical interaction with the products.
Compliance documentation (GFSI / HACCP requests)
As part of the new product listing process on Amazon, you will be asked to supply certain compliance documentation from the manufacturer. We can supply this to you following your Own Label setup, as and when requested to do so by Amazon.
